Things to know:
Visa & Travel Requirements:
-
Valid passport - must be valid for entire length of stay
-
For US passport holders, Visa is not required if staying less than 180 days.
-
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the proper travel documentation - visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html for more details.
Safety:
Mexico City is relatively safe for female travelers, however, we recommend staying in tourist friendly neighborhoods (Polanco, Condessa, Roma Norte, Zocalo). As always when traveling to another country, be aware of your surroundings, stick to well lit, well populated areas. Avoid taking food/drinks from strangers unless purchased yourself from a vendor. Be alert and always trust your instincts.

Altitude:
Mexico City is an altitude of 7,350 ft above sea level - a little over 2k more than Denver! If your prone to altitude sickness, I'd recommend bringing meds and definitely staying hydrated!

Currency & Cash:
Most restaurants and stores will take major credit cards. If you wish to shop at markets, or purchase street food you will need Mexican pesos. Money can be converted at the airport. We recommend bringing at least $200 in cash.

Getting Around:
Uber is available and the recommended way to get around

Water:
When traveling to another country, drinking bottled water is recommended. Better to be safe than spend your vacation with an upset stomach!

You'll likely find people who speak English, but knowing a few key phrases in Spanish is always helpful!
